Pay Per Click Advertising Basics

Pay Per Click Advertising is also known as; PPC, pay per placement, pay per ranking, pay per performance, pay per position and CPC, cost per click. Pay-Per-Click is a popular way to advertise on the Internet. PPC advertising is done by placing text ads on search engines and some web pages. As an advertiser you don't pay to have a Pay Per Click ad placed, instead you pay every time someone clicks on your ad and is taken to your page. Ads are displayed from highest bid to lowest bid. Whether the searcher stays on your page and makes a purchase or not, you still pay the page owner for the click.

These ads are for products and services that relate to the original search. This is done by having advertisers bid on keywords. When someone searches the Internet using those keywords, ads are placed close to the results. The higher the bid, the better chance you will have of having your ad displayed in a more prominent position.

The basic process is done by setting up an account, bidding on your keywords, writing and placing a small ad that points to the page you’re trying to get traffic to. Before setting up ads you should have your landing page set up and running.

Many advertisers like to use PPC Advertising because it is possible to get listed quite quickly. Within an hour of starting your PPC campaign, qualified, pre-screened traffic can be on its way to your web site.

The quality of traffic that you get with your PPC campaign is directly related to the quality of keywords you choose. If the keywords that you choose are not directly in line with the information or products and services offered at your website you will not get good quality traffic.

Another positive aspect of Pay Per Click Advertising is the ability to track activity of those who have clicked on your ads. You can tell what pages’ they came from, where they went to while they’re on your site, and how long they stayed on your site. This information is an important factor when deciding statistics such as return on investment, conversion rates, and acquisition cost-per-visitor.

This next page is about " Key Points of PPC Advertising ". Here you will find what to consider when you begin your PPC advertising campains. Note where I advise about having a budget and sticking to it.

I strongly erge this because a person I knew who was starting his marketing career wrote me about when he first started using PPC. Seems he didn't put a limit on his first ad campain and ended up owing Adwords over $3000.00 that he didn't have.

Took him sometime to pay it off. Fair warning. So, onward to the next page. Key Points of PPC Advertising
